2015 `Heritage & Cultures in Modern Namibia´ - Seminar Serie VI: 21. und 22. August 2015

2014 `Heritage & Cultures in Modern Namibia´ - Seminar Serie V: 24. Juni 2014 - die ERÖFFNUNG VON TUCSIN TSUMKWE

TUCSIN kaufte im ersten Viertel 2014 die Tsumkwe Lodge und wird diese in ein Multifunktions-Center für Bildungszwecke umwandeln: Ausbildung, Training und Entwicklungsmaßnahmen für diese marginalisierte Gegend sind die Hauptaufgabe.

Die Einweihung fand am 24. Juni statt:  Cliff Olivier, Vorstandsvorsitzender von TUCSIN, gab einen historischen Überblick über die Arbeit von TUCSIN und stellte Dr. Ngavirue, den Ehrengast und TUCSIN-Mitbegründer, vor, der die offizielle Eröffnung vornahm, im Beisein des traditionellen Chiefs Tsamkxao BoBo.

Ein wesentlicher Programmpunkt war die Vorstellung des neuen Sprach-Lexikons für Kinder in Ju/’hoan, Englisch und Afrikaans von Kerry Jones, Tsemkxao Fanni und Ui. Olavi Munkanda.    ….lesen Sie mehr

A panel discussion with:

Megan Biesele – an anthropologist who has been working with the San in Namibia for over thirty years. She compiled an orthography of the Ju/’hoan language, has written many books and co-edited the TUCSIN Festschrift entitled ‘Heritage & Cultures in Modern Namibia – In-depth Views of the Country’ - the basis for this Seminar Series.

Andreas Haikera Mushongo – educator – school principal – working on his degree at UNAM – is a member of the Nyae Nyae Village Schools project. He is an associate of TUCSIN's and has been working with Megan Biesele for many years.

Melissa Heckler – educator – has also been working in Namibia for many years – reported on the development of the library at Tsumkwe in 2011 – and illustrated the importance of oral tradition and story telling.
